Wilma Alene Johnson

1931 — January 6, 2022

Wilma Alene Milliorn Johnson, 90, of Abilene, entered her Heavenly home on Thursday, January 6, 2022 in Abilene, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, January 10, 2022 at Southwest Park Baptist Church, 2901 S. 20th St., with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene at 2:00 p.m. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX.

Wilma was born in Oplin, TX to Linnie Olive (Gwin) and Walter Earl Milliorn on Wednesday, July 29, 1931. She graduated from Eula High School in 1950. She married Robert Harry Johnson in Eula on June 21, 1956 and enjoyed 55 years happily married to the love of her life. Wilma and Robert “Bob” raised two wonderful daughters together. Wilma worked for Village Fashions, The Stout Shop, and Lin’s for many years. After retiring from the workforce, Wilma continued to stay active in her community by volunteering at Abilene Regional Hospital for many years where she enjoyed visiting patients, families, and making sure every patient had a daily newspaper. Wilma was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church.

Although Wilma loved her time working and volunteering in the community, she found her true enjoyment and happiness in spending time with her family. Wilma was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, Granny, and great-grandmother. Nothing brought a smile upon Wilma’s face quite like her grandchildren and great-grandchildren did.

Wilma is preceded in death by her spouse, Robert Harry Johnson; her parents; brothers, Joe Milliorn and Tommy Milliorn; one sister, Betty Mae Gable; and daughter, Patricia Ann Johnston.

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Danette Sides and husband Steve of Tuscola; brother, Clarence Milliorn and wife Sue of Clyde; son-in-law, Bobby Johnston; two sisters-in-law, Louise Milliorn and RuthAnn Milliorn; all of Abilene; three grandchildren, Jennifer Clark and partner Justin Laird, Jacob Clark and fiancé Tiffani Sylvester, and Stephanie Bryan and husband Clent; and ten great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

Memorials may be given to Southwest Park Baptist Church Building Fund.
