William Jack Wilson

Jack Wilson, age 82, died Thursday, September 1, 2005 at Hendrick Health Systems. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, September 5th, at 10 A.M. at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery with Rev. Shane Brue officiating and under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, TX. William Jack Wilson was born on March 12, 1923 in Dermott, Texas to parents Claud Wilson and Flora Hale Wilson. He went to school in Dermott and Fluvanna and served during WWII in the U.S. Navy. Jack married Clara Berryhill on January 31, 1987 in Abilene. He worked as a switchman for Southwestern Bell for 32 years. He also was owner of Judy's Tele-Call Answering Service, worked as a Marshall for Maxwell Golf Course, coached Little League Baseball in Sweetwater, was an avid golfer, fisherman an accomplished fiddle and steel guitar player, and loved to travel with his wife. Jack was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Abilene. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: J.R. Wilson and Frank Wilson. Jack is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife: Clara Wilson, of Abilene; a daughter: Judy Ann and husband, George Barsch, of Scurry; three step-sons: Harold Edmondson and wife, Vickie; Philip Edmondson and wife, Kim; and Robert Edmondson, all of Abilene. Also a brother: T.L. Wilson, of California; a sister: Yvonne and husband, Robert Hicks, of Snyder; two sisters-in-law: Mozelle and Earlene; and a special niece: Dianne and husband, Ronnie Gill, of Buffalo Gap. Also five grandchildren: Donnie Barsch, of Iowa; Keith Barsch, of Alaska; Daniel Edmondson, of Abilene; Michael Edmondson, of Missouri; and Heather Edmondson, of Abilene. Also six great-grandchildren and additional family and friends. Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care or St. James United Methodist Church.
