William “Bill” D. Dockery

Bill Dockery, 86, of Abilene, TX passed away on December 13, 2025 in Abilene.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 18th, from 5-7 pm at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Friday, December 19th, 2025 at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Dr. John Whitten of Pioneer Drive, officiating. Burial will follow at Elliot- Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Bill was born in Denver, CO to Erby Edward Dockery and Marjorie Allen on June 6th, 1939. He grew up in Colorado Springs, CO. He attended Hardin-Simmons University. He married Elaine Chesser on May 20th, 1989 in Abilene. He served on the Abilene Police Force for 29 years. He served as an Usher at Pioneer Drive for many years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, 2 sisters and 2 grand-daughters.

Bill is survived by his wife Elaine Dockery: her children Thomas Mantooth, James and Luann Mantooth, Lori and Bill Lau: his grandchildren Whitney and James, Allison, Lauren, Alex and Ryan Kelly, Brianna and Robert, Andrew, Jonathon, and Abby.

Pallbearers and Policeman honors will be provided by the Abilene Police Department.

Memorials may be given to Hendrick Hospice and Meals on Wheels.
