Waylan Jackson, 81, of Tuscola, TX passed away September 17, 2025, in Abilene, TX.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 24 from 6pm-8pm at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, TX 79606
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 25 at 1:30pm at Beltway Park Church - South Campus, 4009 Beltway S, Abilene, TX 79606 with Mike Hill officiating. Service will be available to stream Live on Youtube at youtube.com/c/BeltwayParkChurch Burial will follow at Iberis Cemetery, Hardwick Rd & Iberis Rd S, Abilene, TX. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd.

Waylan was born in Knox County, TX to Ray and Virgina Bess Jackson on November 15, 1943. He was raised to love God, family and friends. He went to school at Goree, TX. After graduation, he attended Texas Tech for 2 years. He married Shirley Weaver on August 5, 1963, in Goree, TX.
Waylan was employed with Volume Shoe Corporation, the parent company of Payless Shoe Stores, out of Topeka, KS for 17 years and achieved Regional Director & VP of Operations. Desiring to move home to Texas 17 years later, he started a 40-year career, founding Jackson Brothers Feed and Seed and inviting his brothers, Bobby & David to join him.
His heart was to serve God & people. Waylan & Shirley served in the ministry of New Beginnings by walking with the women transitioning out of bondage into the Freedom of Christ. There were many organizations Waylan chose to serve in throughout our community. He was always sharing his love of Jesus.
God blessed Waylan & Shirley’s home with 3 sons. Keith & wife Teresa, Kevin & wife Jessica, and Kyle. Also, 7 grandchildren & spouses, & 13 great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his precious wife of 62 years, Shirley, his sons, grandchildren & great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both of his God-fearing parents and one brother, Bobby Ray Jackson. He is survived by his siblings, David, Gwenette, Janis and spouses.

Pallbearers will be Caleb Jackson, Brian Arroyo, Zenny Balleza, Tim Niedeckin, Keith Fry, & Rocky Denard.
