Donald Lavon Marr “Von”, 83, of Hawley, passed away on Thursday December 16, 2021.

Visitation will be Sunday December 19, 2021, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Burial will be Monday, December 20, 2021, at 2:00 pm at the Goree, Texas cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX.

Von was born February 10, 1938, in Haskell Texas to James Berry “JB” Marr and Evalynn Ray Marr. He attended and graduated from Paint Creek High School in 1956. Von married Patricia JoAnn “Jo” Estes in 1967.

Von was born a salesman and worked for Jones & Cox and Bill Wilson Ford in Haskell before owning his own furniture stores located in Abilene, Haskell and Munday and loved every minute of it.  After moving to Abilene, he worked for Fred Hughes Motors for many years before going to work at Lawrence Hall where he remained for 22 years. Von loved people and selling so it was the perfect match for him.

Von spent the last decade enjoying life with his best friend and love Earlyne Reagan. Von doted on Earlyne and loved doing nice things for her whenever he could. Earlyne & Von enjoyed their life living in the country in Hawley where Von loved to work in the yard and build anything with wood. He loved his little dog Annie and enjoyed taking her on tractor rides with him.  Von and Earlyne enjoyed dancing and spending time with their group of friends. Von always enjoyed music and was rarely caught without his radio playing in the house. He loved Elvis and enjoyed his music the most.

Von was preceded in death by his parents JB and Evalynn Marr, his wife JoAnn Marr and his sister, Joan Marr Davies.

Von is survived by his brother, Kenneth Marr and wife, Pat of Stamford; his sister, Elaine Appleton of Rochelle; brother-in-Law, Donny Estes and wife, Candy of Goree; two nephews, Dusty Marr of McKinney, and Boyd Davies of Queen Creek Arizona; and five nieces, Brandy Gray of Winters, Mendy Marr of Waco, Stargret Thompson of Phoenix Arizona, Shellye Myers of Seymour and Sheilla Urbanczyk of Goree. He is also survived by his uncle Lewis Marr of Mineral Wells and numerous cousins.

Von is also survived by Earlyne's children, Amy Chapman and husband Roger of Hawley, Melanie Reyes and husband Sam of Abilene, & Greg Reagan and wife Lori of Abilene. Earlyne's grandchildren, Ashton, Reagan, Chloe, Spencer, Grant, and Lindsay. Along with great grandchildren Peyton, Lorelai, Presleigh, Cyrus and Stevie.   

Memorial may be made to the West Texas Rehab Center or to the organization of your choice.
