Vivian Marie Hogue

April 25, 1926 — May 3, 2024

Vivian Marie Hogue, 98, of Abilene, Texas went to her heavenly home Friday, May 3 at a local care facility.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 8 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Services will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 9 at Elmcrest Baptist Church on N. Pioneer Drive officiated by Rev. Burtis Williams, assisted by Rev. Jordan Cosper, with burial to follow in the Aspermont Cemetery at 2:00 pm.

Marie was born April 25, 1926 to N.L. “Boss” Winter and Leta Bell Winter in Shinery Lake Community. She received her primary education from Swenson and Aspermont public Schools. She married Andrew J. Hogue on December 20, 1941 in a double wedding in Hamlin, Texas. They remained faithfully married for 57 years until his death in 1998. She was the loving mother of two children, Ronald Lee Hogue, lost at birth, and Lana Sharon Cosper of Abilene. Marie, in partnership with her husband, Andy, owned and operated Hogue’s Glidden Paint & Decorating Studio in Abilene, Texas from 1951 to 1988. She was a lifetime member of the Baptist Church, attending First Baptist of Abilene until moving membership to Elmcrest Baptist Church in 1966 providing support for their many ministries and serving numerous committees. Marie, a country girl at heart, also enjoyed being out at the ranch feeding the cows or spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brother N.L. “Wad” Winter Jr, sister Betty Rash Whigham, and one son.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter Sharon Cosper and husband Rodney; a grandson Brian Cosper and wife Tonya; a granddaughter Staci Clark and husband Daniel; five great-grandchildren: Jordan, AJ, Autumn, Ashton, and Drade; their respective spouses, Kristen, Krysta, Wesley, and Cheyenne; five great-grandchildren with one more on the way, all living in the Abilene area.

Memorials may be given to West Texas Rehab, Hendrick Hospice of Abilene, or Resonate Community Church.

The family of Marie wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Barry Moak of Abilene; longtime care givers, Willie-Mae Ware, Angel Santos, and Genesis Gonzales; and the staff of Chisholm Court.
