Vera Louise Stiles Hurd, 91, passed away on November 11 in Abilene, Texas.
Born and raised in rural Pennsylvania, Vera carried the warmth and steadiness of her upbringing with her. After moving to Houston, she worked as a secretary for a local realtor, a role she embraced with dedication and skill before marrying and raising her three children. During her years in Dalworthington Gardens, Texas, Vera served as the city court clerk, a position in which she was known for her professionalism and efficiency. Outside of work, she found joy in painting, pouring her creativity onto canvas, and later discovered a passion for playing bridge, a pastime that brought her friendship, challenge, and happiness.
Vera is survived by her daughters, Susan Hurd and MaryLou (Greg) Price; her son, John Hurd; and her grandchildren, Matthew and Madeleine Price.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chet Hurd.
Vera will be remembered for her devotion to family and the thoughtful grace she carried throughout her life.
