Vade Giles, 98, passed away on February 17, 2021 in Abilene, Texas. He was born on April 8, 1922 in Grenville, NM. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio and attended The University of Texas for one and a half years. Vade remained an avid Texas Longhorn fan for life. He joined the Army Air Corps and served in WW II as a pilot. While stationed at Biggs Field in El Paso, Vade met and married Ruth Elizabeth Mann. They were blessed to celebrate 71 years of anniversaries, birthdays and holidays while raising two children until Ruth's passing in 2016. Vade and Ruth were dedicated members of St. Paul Methodist Church from 1956 until their passing. After many years in truck sales, Vade became owner of M&G GMC Truck dealership in Abilene.
Vade was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. He is survived by his sister, Maluan Anderson, sons Gary (Vicki) and Jeff (Debbie), grandchildren Hillary (Joe) Stoker, Whitney (Bobby) Martin and Chase (Rachel) Giles and great grandchildren Joe Paul and Sophie Stoker, Easton and Alex Martin.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 25, 4-6 pm, with funeral Friday, February 26, 1 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Memorials may be made to McMurry University and St. Paul Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
