A Life Remembered

Trey Brandon Hunt, age 41, passed away suddenly on October 7, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas. Trey was a cherished son, brother, father, uncle, cousin, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Born June 28, 1985, in Katy, Texas, Trey was the precious beloved son of Sherrye Lynn and Daryl Scott Hunt, and the elder brother of Taylor Marie.

Trey spent his early childhood in Katy, Texas, before his family moved to Flower Mound in 1992 and later to Union, Kentucky, in 1996. There he attended Collins Elementary, Grey Middle School, and Ryle High School, where his natural talents in music and athletics began to shine.

A gifted athlete, Trey excelled in soccer throughout his four years at Ryle High School, earning Best Offensive Player honors each year and a place on the Northern Kentucky All-Star Team his senior year. He also played baseball, was a distinguished first-chair saxophonist, and participated in Future Business Leaders of America. His athletic talent and dedication to soccer and baseball were further demonstrated through his participation in competitive recreational leagues and elite select teams. Soccer remained a lifelong passion for Trey, as he continued to enjoy the sport playing in adult indoor leagues. Trey was also an exceptional golfer, whose natural ability on the golf course made him a favorite teammate in his father's company golf scrambles growing up. His love for the game continued through his life and to this day a set of golf clubs remain in the back of his truck.

Some of Trey's happiest memories were made on the water at Lake Cumberland, a place that held a special place in his heart. Whether slalom skiing, wakeboarding, surfing, or simply enjoying a day boating, Trey was truly in his element. His remarkable athletic ability was matched by the enthusiasm and joy he brought to every adventure. What truly made Trey special was more than his talent, but his energy, excitement, and passion he brought to the things he loved. His spirit was one of a kind and the memories of Trey doing what he loved will live on forever.

Trey also had a deep love for the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. He treasured time spent deer hunting with his Grandpa Hunter, Grandad Hunt, and his mother. Duck hunting with his father was an especially meaningful tradition, filled with early mornings, quiet conversation and treasured moments of connection and memories that would last a lifetime. For Trey, these experiences were about far more than the sport; they were about being with the people he loved.

Trey graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in Finance. He began his career with Fidelity Investments while attending college and went on to build a career in commercial banking and credit analysis. His professional journey included senior positions with Fifth Third Bank, UMB Bank, Center Bank, and First Command Bank, ultimately bringing him to Fort Worth, Texas.

Above all his accomplishments, Trey was most proud of his son, Austin Scott Hunt. Although distance limited their time together once Trey moved to Texas, the love he held for Austin never once wavered. Trey deeply cherished the bond they shared through their mutual love of the Cincinnati Bengals and University of Kentucky Wildcats. No matter the miles between them, Austin was always in Trey's heart and on his mind. Being Austin's father was a source of tremendous pride and love in Trey's life.

Trey held a special place in his heart for his nephew, Walker, and niece, Hunter Marie. He cherished every opportunity to spend time with them, whether attending Halloween Fest and or taking in the magic of Winter Light Fest, driving four wheelers, or tossing them around in the pool, Trey was always along for the adventure. Walker and Hunter eagerly looked forward to time with their Uncle Trey, knowing that laughter, fun, and a bag of Skittles or a Dr Pepper were never far away. To Walker and Hunter, Trey was more than an uncle; he was playmate and a friend.

Trey will be remembered for his kind heart. He had a way making people feel valued, welcomed, and cared about. The kindness he shared left an impression on those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the laughter he shared and the love he gave so freely. The love he gave and the kindness he shared will not end with him. Those who knew him will carry pieces of him forward - in their memories and in their stories. His memory is a treasure and his place in the hearts of those who love him will remain forever. His story does not end here, because a life so deeply loved is never truly forgotten.

Trey is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Thomas Kenneth Hunter and Marie Ann Hunter, of Nacogdoches, Texas and his paternal grandparents, Dale Vernet Hunt and Shirley Delores Hunt, of Garwood, Texas.

He is survived by his son, Austin Scott Hunt of Union, Kentucky; his parents, Daryl Scott and Sherrye Lynn Hunt of Abilene, Texas; his sister, Taylor Marie (Hunt) Hart and her husband, Aaron, of Fort Worth, Texas; and his nephew and niece, Walker and Hunter Marie Hart.

He is also survived by an uncle, Thomas K. Hunter Jr. and wife, Becky of Colorado Springs, Colorado; aunts, Renee Hunt Faas and husband, Darrell of Glen Flora, Texas and Rachelle Hunt Cook and husband, Charlie of Victoria, Texas; nine cousins, Travis Hunter, Luke Hunter, Anna Hunter, Briana Young, Braden Faas, Carley Gipson, Kelsey Ford, Audrey Cook and Natalie Cook; and numerous extended family members and dear friends.
