Tommy Mack Ward, 74, of Abilene, TX, passed away on March 21, 2026, in Abilene, TX.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 25th from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. in Abilene.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26th at 1 p.m. at Wylie Baptist Church, 6097 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, with Mike Harkrider officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 US-277, Abilene. Arrangements are with The Hamil Family Funeral Home 6449 buffalo Gap Rd. Abilene, TX.
Tommy was born on March 13, 1952, in Abilene, TX to Leonard and Berta Buna "Boots" Sherman Ward. He attended Wylie ISD and graduated from Wylie High School in 1970. He also attended McMurry University. He married Pamela Skiles on March 28, 1981, in Knox City, TX. He worked for many years with his father Leonard at Ward Texaco in Abilene. He worked in construction for over 50 years, spending the last 25 years at CADCO Architects & Engineers as a Construction Manager. He retired in December of 2024 after many years of hard work.
Tommy was a man who appreciated the simple things in life. He enjoyed spending time fishing, browsing estate sales in search of unique finds, and collecting marbles, each one a small treasure. He never met a stranger and could find someone he knew everywhere he went. More than anything, he loved being with his family and rarely missed an opportunity to attend his grandchildren's games, performances, and activities. He was their biggest supporter and took great pride in each of them.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Boots Ward; his brother Pat Ward; his sister Nancy Turnbow; and his in-laws Willard and Bettye Skiles.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Pam Ward of Abilene; daughter, Amanda Cox and husband, David of Tuscola; son, Cole Ward of Abilene; sister, Dolly Carpenter of Clyde; brother, Mike Ward and wife, Gay of Abilene; four grandchildren, Jack Ward, Kerrigan Cox, Merritt Ward and Kellan Cox; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Donald Carpenter, Dwain Carpenter, Jody Turnbow, Randy Burson, Alan Richey and Everett Fraser. Honorary pallbearers will be his beloved grandchildren, Jack Ward, Kerrigan Cox, Merritt Ward and Kellan Cox, who were truly his greatest treasures and brought him endless pride and joy.
Memorials may be given to your favorite charity.
