Terry Boyd Bawcom

1944 — November 10, 2021

Our family's hero and captain went to meet His Savior face-to-face on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. We keep describing this event as both heartbreaking and glorious at the same time. It is hard to describe what an amazing man, husband and father he was to us but simply put, he was a man of unshakeable faith. We sang hymns in his final hours and through joyous tears proclaimed these words of comfort:

"From life's first cry to final breath Jesus commands our destiny."

Dr. Terry Boyd Bawcom was born on the eleventh of February 1944 to Juanita and Jack Bawcom. He attended Monahans High School, the University of Texas at Austin and graduated from University of Texas College of Dentistry in Houston, Texas. Terry and the love of his life, Connie, married and settled in Abilene, Texas where they established Terry's dental practice and raised 4 children. Terry practiced dentistry for more than 45 years where he was committed to his family, friends, patients and staff.

A memorial service will be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 19th of November, at Park Cities Presbyterian Church, 4214 Oak Lawn Avenue in Dallas, where the Rev. Philip Jones, All Saints Dallas and the Rev. Dr. Pete Deison, Park Cities Presbyterian Church will officiate. The memorial will also be live streamed at www.pcpc.org/live/memorial-services.

On Saturday, the 20th of November, the family will have a visitation at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, from one o'clock to three o'clock in the afternoon.

He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Connie; his children, Jessica Inoff and husband Darren, Courtney Garrett and husband John, Clint Bawcom and wife Taylor, all of Houston, Texas and Brittany Gaskill and husband David, of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren Peyton Inoff, New York City, Bennett Inoff and Harris Inoff, Houston, Grayson Gaskill and Gage Gaskill, Dallas, Jack Garrett, Camp Garrett, Emmy Bawcom, Bo Bawcom, Grace Anne Bawcom, and Hunter Bawcom, Houston; twin brother, Dr. Jerry Bawcom and wife Vicky, San Marcos, niece Amy Bawcom, Georgetown; sister-in-law Abbe Morrison and husband Ken, Las Colinas; nephew Scott Muecke and wife Tamara and children Kate, Lucy, Max and Mason, Houston.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Terry's memory be directed to www.101christianity.com/give.

101 Christianity is truly a family ministry where Terry held the role of CEO (Chief Encouragement Officer).

Although people say our father has died, we know he has never been more alive!
