Steve Collum

Robert “Steve” Collum of Abilene gained his wings February 25th, 2022, in Abilene, Tx.

Steve was born December 2, 1954, in Abilene to Bob and Mary Collum. He married April Burton Finlay and her two sons, Matt and Doug, July 27th, 1991.

Steve followed in his father’s footsteps by working in the automotive parts business for nearly fifty years. Steve was well known and respected by many professionals in the industry. He had recently retired from Concho Supply.

Steve enjoyed spelunking, repelling, water sports, racing, camping, golfing, playing pool and a cold beer, but most of all, he cherished every minute that he spent with his family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, Bob Collum and Mother, Mary Collum.

Steve is survived by his wife April of 30 years, and his two sons, Matt Finlay of Midland, Doug Finlay of San Angelo and wife Lindy, his sister Susan Lassiter of Abilene and husband Steve. Grandchildren, John Lavario, Tyler Finlay and Shelby, Taylor Waters, Charlie White, Gage Finlay and soon to be great-granddaughter, Addyson. He is also survived by his nieces, Jennifer Jenkins and Brooke Gallimore, nephews, Bo Edwards, and Justin Jenkins. Sister-in-law Rose Ann Pratt and numerous other great nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers will be Robert Doty, Dennis Mathison, Troy Pinkston, Alan Wainscott, Bo Edwards, Wayne Brannon, Jacob Clay and Johnathan Clay.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow on Friday, March 4th, at 2:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd, Abilene, with Pastor Brett Stewart of Beltway Park Church officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
