February 6, 1959 — June 19, 2025

Sherri Muncrief Merket, 66, of Abilene, joined her Heavenly Father on June 19, 2025, in Abilene, Texas, while surrounded by her closest family.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00pm on Monday, June 23, at the Hamil Family Funeral Home in Abilene.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, June 24, at Beltway Park South in Abilene with pastors Randy Turner and Geoffrey Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.

Sherri was born in Colorado City, Texas, to Billy and Von Dean Muncrief on February 6, 1959. Her family lived in multiple towns across Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana before settling again in Colorado City, where she graduated high school in 1977. There, she met her soulmate, Rodney Merket, who finally took her on their first date in May 1976. They married four years later on August 23, 1980. Sherri graduated from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy in Austin in 1983, and she retired in 2023 after a long career as a specialty pharmacist.

Sherri and Rod traveled the world together, always returning home to Texas where they were close to family and friends. She loved dogs, chocolate, flowers, dancing, snow skiing, playing pickleball, hiking, and so much more.

Sherri had a deep faith in Jesus Christ, and she was devoted to being in His word daily. She loved God and her family deeply, and she prayed continuously.

Sherri was preceded in death by her parents Billy and Von Dean Muncrief and parents-in-law Bo and Nina Merket.

Sherri is survived by her beloved husband Rod; daughter Courtney Corso and husband Josh, son Connor and wife Alison, and son Carson and wife Gracen. Her six children were deeply loved by her. Sherri is also survived by sister Terri and husband Joe, sister Billie and husband Beau, many nephews and nieces, and many, many dear friends.

Pallbearers will be Caleb Merket, Waylon Merket, Jayden Kirby, Ryder Kirby, Jase Garcia, and Trey Najera.

The family wishes to extend our gratitude to the compassionate care of Dr. McCain, Dr. Moore, Dr. Simpson, Shane, Shoshana, Christina, Litty, Jocelyn, Linette, and many others at Hendrick Medical Center.
