Sammie Joe Wilson (Sam), 79, of Abilene, passed away on October 19, 2023, in Abilene.  Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Potosi Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.

Sam was born in Knox City, Texas, to Clyde and Hattie Wilson on February 1, 1944.  He lived in and attended school in Whiteface, Texas.  He married Linda Abbott on June 10, 1967, in Knox City.  He worked in the oilfield supply business in Abilene for over 35 years – including Superior Iron Works, Paramount Pipe & Supply, as well as Crescent Supply.

Sam was loved by everyone who knew him.  He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with his family and friends, fishing, and spending time outdoors. His smile, generosity, and sense of humor will be greatly missed.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Hattie Wilson and sisters Anita Stone and Juanita Elliott.  Sam is survived by his wife, Linda, daughter Stacy and husband John Pacheco of Abilene, son Craig and wife Melissa of Abilene, son Eric and wife Krista of Tuscola, sister Sandra and husband Jim Abbott of Abilene, and eight grandchildren: Klarissa and Albert Henley, Collin, Claire, and Caitlin Wilson, Laynee and Tate Wilson, and Cherokee Canada, as well as one great grandchild, Jak Henley.

Pallbearers will be Craig Wilson, Eric Wilson, John Pacheco, Collin Wilson, Albert Henley, and Randy Abbott.
