In Loving Memory of Ruby Nelson Starks

Ruby Nelson Starks, 92, of Abilene, Texas, peacefully departed this life on June 16, 2025, to reunite with her beloved family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 2 PM to 4 PM. A memorial service will follow on June 23, 2025 at 2 PM at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd.

Born in Abilene to Ruben and Jessie Hall, Ruby dedicated her career to Hendrick Medical Center, where she held several supervisory positions before retiring. She cherished her time spent with family, hosting gatherings filled with card games and laughter. Ruby’s legacy lives on through her family, who will forever cherish the traditions she cultivated and the love she shared.

Ruby’s kitchen remains a central hub of fond memories, where the delicious aromas of her meals blend with the laughter and stories shared by generations. Her influence fostered values of love and resilience, inspiring her descendants to embrace the warmth she brought to their lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Nelson, parents Jessie and Ruben Hall, daughter Debbie Floyd and son-in-law Gary Floyd, grandson Shane Floyd, granddaughter Amy Howell, sister Jimmy Tiner, and brothers Dave Hall and Burt Hall.

Ruby is survived by her sister Wanda Wells, brother Ray Hall, five daughters and son: Brenda Russell; Gary Nelson and wife Debra; Judy McArthur and husband Phil; Tina Roger and husband Sam; Gina Briggs; and Terry Nelson. Additionally, she leaves behind a remarkable lineage of 17 grandchildren-

Carrie Hensley and husband Kerry, Justin Little, Lance Nelson and wife Jessie, Aaron Nelson and wife Jennifer, Brannon Nelson and wife , Laureena Dean and husband Marty, Lisa Rogers, Clint McArthur and wife Shauna, Michelle McArthur and Brian Casey, Jimmy Floyd and Wife Missy, Season Floyd, Jennifer Conner, Randy Howell and Wife Beth, Josh Reicheneker and wife Stephanie, Jeremy Reicheneker and wife Gretchen and 40 great-grandchildren, and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons and close friends.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to Ruby's care.
