Rosemary Oman Edwards, Age 79, of Abilene, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 19, 2025, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Avoca, Texas (10625 FM 600, Avoca, TX 79503). Pastor Richard Strait will officiate.
Rosemary was born on September 11, 1945, in Stamford, Texas, to Mary and Earl Oman. She was raised in Ericksdahl Community and graduated from Lueders High School in 1963. On March 8, 1974, she married Billy John Edwards, the person she trusted most to share both the ordinary days and the milestones.
Rosemary worked as an administrative assistant in the legal and oil industries but was most widely known and respected as a real estate agent in Abilene. Her warmth, honesty, and passion for helping others made a lasting impact in both her professional and personal life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mary Oman, and her brother, Stanley Oman.
She is survived by her husband, Billy John Edwards; her son, Todd Hill and his husband, Steven Van Note; her daughter, Marcie Brow and her husband, Paul Brow; and her beloved grandson, Lucas Brow. She also leaves behind a wide circle of extended family and dear friends who will cherish her memory and the love she shared.
The family extends deep gratitude to those who cared for Rosemary with such compassion and dedication. A special thanks to Trance, Candice, Karter, and Emma Rosenquist for stepping in with love and support whenever she needed it-especially when distance kept her children from reaching her right away. Your presence was a gift to us all.
We also wish to thank the incredible team at Hendrick Hospice Care of Abilene, including nurses Nadia, Tommie, Lecia, and Shirley-who sat by her side in her final moments-as well as aide Yolanda. Deep appreciation also goes to the Visiting Angels team, especially Shelly, Brit, and their wonderful aides Jessica and Cheryl.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hendrick Hospice Care of Abilene or the American Lung Association, in honor of Rosemary and in support of continued research, education, and compassionate end-of-life care.
