Ronald Joe Collins, 79, a lifelong resident of Abilene, passed away on September 10, 2026.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM and Funeral Services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, with David Cason from Broadview Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Hawley Cemetery. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Ronald was born in Abilene, TX to H.T. Collins, Jr and Alta Lantrip Collins on August 26, 1947. He graduated from Abilene High School, class of 1965. He married Sherri Giddens Collins on August 17, 1967 in Abilene. After serving in the United States Army he began his career as an electrician with Texas Oil and Electric which led to employment at Pride Refinery. He worked at Pride Refinery for over 25 years ending his career there as Refinery and Truck Terminal Manager.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, H.T. Collins, Jr., and Alta Lantrip Collins; his brother, Harold Collins.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Sherri Giddens Collins, 2 daughters, Traci Collins, Melinda Collins Whitfill (Cody), his sister, Catherine McAnally (John), 5 grandchildren, Olivia Whitfill Foster (Cody), Creed Whitfill (Maddie), Briley Laxton-Collins, Kacey Laxton-Collins and Cameron Laxton-Collins along with many loved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Creed Whitfill, Briley Laxton-Collins, Cody Foster, Matthew McAnally, Jason Graham, Banton Graham and Tim Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Giddens and Lucas Giddens.
Memorials may be given to Broadview Baptist Church, 2500 S. 27th St., Abilene, TX 79605.
The family of Ronald wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Candy Bowen, NP, Dr. Rupinder Kaur and the staff of Hendrick Medical Center North ICU.
