Robert Renfro

Robert Elliott Renfro, 83, of Abilene, passed away on March 20, 2023 in Abilene.

Robert was born in Cottonwood, TX to Eldon and Jewell Renfro on July 18, 1939. He went to school at Abilene High School where he met and married the love of his life, Martha Jane Cathey on August 9, 1958. He worked as an auto body repairman for several companies, managing most of them before opening his own shop where he was able to restore vintage cars and received several awards for his craftmanship. But his greatest love was for his sweetheart, Martha and he doted on her endlessly until her passing. He also loved and cherished his family, enjoying time with his two daughters and their families. He served as a deacon at Southern Hills Church of Christ and treasured his time serving his fellow church members. His life was dedicated to the Lord and the service of other, always putting others before himself.

Robert was preceded in death his parents, his brothers Truitt and Eldon, sisters Wanda Ruth Woody, and Mary Frances Motes.

Robert is survived by his daughters, Cathey Beaty and husband Jerry, Lisa Bowman and husband Kevin. His grandchildren, Heather Vallier and husband Dennis, Justin Flatt and wife Melanie, Sean Beaty and wife Katie, Shannon Flatt and wife Lindsey, and Jacquelyn Flatt. Great grandchildren Braedyn Beal, Boston Vallier, Maddox Beaty, Rylie and Carson Flatt.  

Memorials may be given to a charity of your choice in his name.

Robert’s family would like to thank Genteva Hospice. Their care, genuine kindness, compassion, and concern for our father during his illness is greatly appreciated.

In keeping with his wishes, no formal service will be held. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
