Robert Lee Brown Jr., 86, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on May 8, 2026, in Abilene.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery, 5750 US Hwy 277 South. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.

Robert was born on September 26, 1939, in Abilene to Robert Lee Brown Sr. and Rita Jo Cope Brown. He attended Wylie ISD schools and graduated from Wylie High School. On July 25, 1961, he married the love of his life, Rita Jo Cope Brown.

A lifelong entrepreneur, Robert owned and operated several fence companies in Big Spring and Abilene. He also served as District Manager for Texas Farm Bureau and owned a steakhouse in Coldspring, Texas. He was known for his competitive spirit in cook-off contests, his deep passion for bass fishing, telling stories, his love for Texas, and cheering on the Aggies. In retirement, he settled in Aransas Pass, Texas, where he could enjoy fishing and seafood whenever he pleased.

He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, love of the outdoors, and the many businesses he built throughout his life.
