Richard Snapp

Richard Allen Snapp, 85, was born April 18, 1937 to Earl and Lela Snapp. He passed away Thursday, March 23, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 27 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 28 at the funeral home, with burial following at Buffalo Gap Cemetery.

Richard graduated from Abilene High School in 1957. He joined the United States Marine Corps immediately following graduation. After his discharge from the Marine Corps, he moved back to Abilene to work for Brown Electric for several years. Richard opened Abilene Electric Motor in 1972, where he worked until retiring at the end of 1996. After retiring, Richard enjoyed playing golf, riding his motorcycle, rebuilding classic cars, and spending time with his family. Richard was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Abilene.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Thomas, brother Robert, and sisters Lela, Judy, and Betty.

Richard is survived by his wife, Deedee, who he was happily married to for 40 years; one daughter, Jennifer of Buffalo Gap; two sons, Jared (Gay Lynn) of Georgetown, and Curtis of Azle; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
