Rex Patrick Walker 81 of Abilene TX passed away on Saturday January 21st 2021 in Abilene TX

Memorial Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday January 27, 2021 at Mosaic Baptist Church Abilene, TX with Dr. J Miller and Keith Clifton officiating. Services will also be live streamed through Mosaic Church of Abilene’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MosaicAbilene/. The Family will host visitors immediately following the service. Services are under the direction of Hamil Family Funeral Home 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Rex was born in Hartville Mo. to William Walker and Ina Opal Walker on June 12, 1939. He began school in Hartville, MO and graduated from Mountain Grove High School Mountain Grove, MO. He married Patricia Harris on July 9th 1961 in Mountain Grove, MO.  He worked as a Signalman and foreman for Union Pacific Railroad until his retirement in 2007. He proudly served in the US Army for 6 years. He served as a Deacon at Lamar Street Baptist Church Sweetwater TX. There he loved teaching Jr. High Boys Sunday school and a few other classes as well. He was extremely proud to receive an award through Union Pacific Railroad for heroism in rescuing a man from drowning. He loved his family unconditionally and was ridiculously proud of his grandkids. He loved the times he was able to spend with friends and family hunting, fishing and simply living life BIG. He was always proud to talk to you about Jesus, but the best part was he didn’t have to. He told you of Jesus by how he lived. This was his proudest accomplishment.

He was preceded in Death by his Parents William and Ina Walker, His son Joel Paul Walker, Brothers Robert and Jesse Walker and Sister Shirley Turner.

He is survived by his Loving and devoted wife Patricia Walker, Children: Tiffani Carson-Walker and Julie Carson-Walker of Georgetown TX, Taffi Conway and Gary Michael Conway of Knoxville TN, Siblings: Bonnie Prock, Billie Chapman and Kenneth Chapman, Max Walker and Louise Walker, Shelby (Sonny) Walker and Lonna Walker, Grand Children: Tricia Carson-Walker and Andrew Conway. Sister in Law Phyllis Walker Brother in Law David Turner, Brothers in Law Dale Harris and Clifford (Shorty) Harris and Sister in Law Bonnie Damm, and many many loving nieces nephews and cousins.

Memorial may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Mosaic Baptist Church
