Rena Elizabeth (Bozarth) Richardson, 93, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at a hospital in San Antonio after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Officiants will be Doug Freeman and Lance Davis. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Darrell Richardson, Doug Freeman, Adam Freeman, Joshua Freeman, Lance Davis, and Seth Freeman.
Rena was born on September 25, 1932, in Wylie, TX to William Henry and Beulah Beatrice (Collins) Bozarth. She graduated from Wylie High School in 1950. Rena married A. Darrell Richardson on June 29, 1953. They had 3 children together; Kathey, Karen, and Darrell.
In 1965, the family moved to Del Rio, TX moving again to San Antonio in 1971. She moved back to Abilene in 1979 where she lived until 2024. She then returned to San Antonio to be cared for by her loving family.
Rena worked for many years, but the job she spoke most frequently and highly about was her first job at Western Cotton Oil in Abilene in the early 1950s. In later years, she and her husband Darrell owned and operated Key City Home Improvement Company in Abilene.
She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ and a former member of Wylie Church of Christ.
Rena was preceded in death by her husband Darrell on April 20, 2010, her parents, her sister Frances Brookerson (Toney), and her son in-law Gary Freeman.
She is survived by her daughter Kathey Freeman and her husband Doug of San Antonio, her daughter Karen Freeman of San Antonio, and her son Darrell Richardson and his wife Jennifer of Abilene; her grandchildren Michelle Woodall, Lisa Davis (Lance), Adam Freeman (Kristen), Joshua Freeman (Vanessa), and Elizabeth Guzman (Ivan); her 4 great grandchildren Seth Freeman, Aubrey Davis, Emily Davis, and Katy Davis who lovingly called her Goodmother; her brothers Bill Bozarth (Rita), Ray Bozarth (Peggy) and David Bozarth (Judy), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
