Reagan Paul Massey

Jun 10, 1941 — May 6, 2026

Hawley

Reagan Massey passed away on May 6, 2026, at the age of 84. He joins the love of his life, Joann Massey, to whom he was married for 44 years.

Reagan was born on June 10, 1941, in Hamlin, Texas, to Seth and Opal Massey. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. He later married Joann Massey on October 6, 1978, in Richardson, Texas, and together they built a life centered around family.

Reagan was a tower of a man: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. His family always came first, but he treated those who were kind to him like family as well. He would offer the shirt off his back if it meant providing even the slightest warmth to someone in need. Kindness was never an effort for him; it was simply his nature.

If you rode into town with him, you were likely to make multiple stops as he helped people you had never met. His work ethic knew no bounds, and that dedication was instilled in the minds and hearts of his entire family.

A man of deep faith, Reagan and Joann were members of Grace Tabernacle in Abilene until its doors closed. He continued to follow the spiritual guidance of his pastor and best friend, James King.

In addition to his work ethic, unwavering devotion to his family, and steadfast faith, Reagan may be remembered most for the joy he brought to others. His smile brought sunlight to even the darkest corners; he had more charm and charisma than he ever realized, and his sense of humor could leave people smiling decades later.

Reagan was preceded in death by his parents, Seth and Opal Massey; siblings Joy Whitaker, Alice Owings, W.L. Massey; his daughter, Paula Williams; and his grandson, Nathan Hooper.

He is survived by his siblings: Norman Massey, Linda Young, Sherry Fortenberry and Deanne Lovell; his children, Rhonda Harris, Troy Hooper, Melanie Flash, Johnie Massey, Wendy Miles, and Joseph Massey; and numerous nieces and nephews; his grandchildren: Stacy Balderas, Marsha McCann, Mark Dillon Harris, Aaron Hooper, Spencer Williams, Chance Williams, Chloe Flash, Drew Spence, and Rayna Miles; his great-grandchildren: Shaina Wiltse, Antonio Balderas, Keanu McCann, Jenna McCann, Declan McCann, McKenzie Harris, Braison Brown, Braylee Brown, and Brooklyn Harris, as well as his great-great-grandchild, Jeriah Gonzales.
