Joe Galloway was born in Electra, Texas on 14 May 1946 to Paul R. and Louise Cross Galloway. He attended Cooper High School, New Mexico Military Institute and The University of Texas. He married Melinda Lou Hinds on 17 October 1967.
After graduation and serving in The United States Marine Corps, he returned to Abilene and began his business career with A. M. Hinds, Jr. (a prominent Builder, Realtor and Developer) ... whose example and guidance directed him his entire life.
In 1980 he joined his family's business as a partner in Galloway Enterprises Inc., an oil field service company.
Joe was involved in many youth sport activities... coaching baseball, soccer, basketball & 7on7 football for the Abilene Eagles.
He served on the Board of Directors of Prosperity Bank, St. John's Episcopal School (President), Barr Roofing Company, and Lytle Lake Water Control District.
He was a longtime member of Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Louise Galloway; his son, Brandt Austin Hinds Galloway; and brother, Dr. Dan C. Galloway.
Survivors include his sons, Bryson Austin Hinds Galloway and his wife Tami, Terry Orr and his wife Rita Faye; his daughter, Belinda Louise Shepherd and her husband Nick; his brothers, Barry Galloway and Edward Galloway; 8 grandchildren, Terrance, Zachary, Nicholas and Christopher Orr, Ty Austin and Blake Thomas Galloway, and Olivia Ray and Sadie Lou Shepherd; great-grandchildren, Terrance Orr, III, Zachary Orr, II, Raegan Orr and Tyson Orr and Camilla Orr.
Following his wishes, after the cremation there will be a 10:00am Friday, June 13, 2025, graveside service at Elmwood Memorial Park, with David Romanik, Rector of The Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Hanna, Attorney, of Abilene; Ronny Bryant; Dale Morris of Victoria, Texas; James Barefoot; William Sojourner; Dr. Stacy Childs; Jimmy (Brud) Martin, Chris Churchill, George Mc Donald, Jim Barr, all of Abilene, as well as "The Boys of the Dixie Pig".
Memorials may be given to St. John's Episcopal School, 1600 Sherman Drive, Abilene, Texas 79605
