Paul D. Hosick, 75, of Tuscola, TX, passed away on November 3rd 2025 at Hendrick Hospice Care Center, Abilene, TX.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 9, 2025, 2:00-4:00pm coinciding with what would have been his 76th birthday, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, TX 79606.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 10, 2025, with an 11:00am luncheon and 12:00pm service at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Rd., Abilene, TX. Committal service with Military honors will be held at 2:00pm at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, 7457 West Lake Rd., Abilene, TX. Officiating – Pastor Clyde Kieschnick & Chaplain Gabriel Rios.
Paul was born in Oakland, CA to Bette & Robert Hosick on November 9, 1949. He went to school at Orinda, CA. He graduated from Miramonte High School. He received his Bachelors degree from Cal Berkeley in 1978. He married Adelle Moen on June 12, 1989, in Carson City, NV. During his career in California, Paul worked as a Sheriff Deputy for both Madera County as well as Contra Costa County, His last place of employment was at Aero Turbine in Stockton. He is a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1971-1975. While deployed Paul was awarded several service medals:
Paul was involved at Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Stockton, CA being a school board member/president, Sunday school teacher, and volunteered his time for everything from building the school playground to serving meals to the needy on Thanksgiving, after moving to Tuscola, TX in 2018. In June 2020, he became very active volunteering as a firefighter for Jim Ned Volunteer Fire Department, receiving the Robert M. Eisenberg Firefighter of the Year award in 2021, soon after earning his title as Lieutenant. Paul’s enjoyments over the years were watching Cal Berkeley Football, building model airplanes, bragging he was “Irish” and not white, celebrating his third favorite holiday St. Patties Day right behind the USMC birthday and Veterans Day, as well as finding the latest malt of Bushmills Irish Whiskey. Paul’s favorite restaurant was The House of Prime Rib In San Francisco CA, with his yearly attempts to outcook them, he came pretty close.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hosick and Bette Hosick; and his sister, Heather (Hosick) Bolstad.
Paul is survived by his wife, Adelle Hosick; son, Corey Hosick; sisters, Tamara Uptain, Dorsey Dell’Erba, and Kimberly Knight; and his nieces and nephews. And of course the cats…
Pallbearers will be Tim Brannon, John Brunett (JB), Noah Fisher, John Fuller, Troy McCullough, and Sam Stanaland. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Jessup, Ron Johnson, Dylan Keiner, and Shel Nietenhoefer.
Contributions may be given to The ALS Lou-Gehrig’s disease Association and/or Zion Lutheran Church, Abilene, TX 79606.
