Pamela Ann Schkade, 76, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on January 23, 2026, in the town she called home her entire life.
Born on July 4, 1949, to Clarence and Vivian Schkade, Pam was the oldest of three girls. She graduated from Abilene High School and attended Sul Ross State University.
Pam had a way of making friends everywhere she went. Whether through work, church, travel, or everyday conversations, she connected easily with people and left them feeling known. She worked at Texas Instruments, spent time abroad as a nanny in Germany, substitute taught at AISD and later worked at Chick-fil-A and no matter the setting, she built lasting friendships.
Her family was the center of Pam's world. She loved them deeply and took great joy in time spent together. She was a devoted aunt and great-aunt, and she lovingly cared for her parents in their later years, serving as a constant presence and cherished companion to them until their deaths. Her pride in her nieces and great-nephews was evident to anyone who knew her.
Pam was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church and was deeply involved in the JOY Group for many years, until health limitations later led her to assisted living at Lyndale and, briefly, Chisholm Court. She valued the friendships and sense of community she found there.
Pam also loved the Texas Rangers, cooking, and watching cooking shows. A true foodie, she found joy in sharing meals and recipes. She enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the horse races in Ruidoso, and she loved to shop, with shopping trips to Fort Worth being among her favorites.
Pam was refreshingly honest and never one to mince words, a quality that made her genuine and deeply loved by those who knew her. She was a beloved sister, aunt, and great-aunt whose presence brought laughter, honesty, and connection wherever she went.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Vivian Schkade; her sister, Jan Jones; and her brother-in-law, Greg Bradshaw.
She is survived by her sister, Mendie Hall and husband Mike Hall; her niece, Jourdan Gard and husband Kevin Gard; her niece, Amber Sanders and husband Steven Sanders; and her great-nephews, Brady and Briley Sanders.
