In loving Memory of Ora Faye Murphy
(August 4, 1927, to June 25,2026)
Ora Faye Murphy passed away June 25, 2026, in Abilene, Texas. She lived a gracious and loving life.
Faye was born August 4, 1927, to Irene and Earl Hickman in Maverick, Texas; but was raised by her mother Irene and stepfather Hilton Fowler. The family moved to Madill, Oklahoma when she was 6 years old where she attended school. She met the 'The Love of her Life', Bill Murphy in Madill and they later married in Dallas, Texas, August 15, 1944. They lived there a year before moving back to Madill, Oklahoma. Bill and Faye left Madill in 1950 to move to Abilene, Texas. Their love story continued for over 62 years.
Faye was a loving wife, mother, friend to many and a faithful member of her church, Broadview Baptist. She was a devoted mother; as well an accomplished member of Queen Esther Chapter #833 for many years. Faye's connection with Eastern Star was a heartwarming and an enjoyable experience; as an active member within her chapter and throughout the state of Texas.
Preceding Faye in death were her parents, Irene and Hilton Fowler, her husband Bill Murphy, 3 sisters, Louise King, Sarah Hawthorne and Frankie Jarreau as well as 2 brothers, Tommy Fowler and Chester Fowler.
Faye is survived by her two sons Mike/Karen Murphy of Abilene, Texas, and Charles/Michelle Murphy of North Carolina. She has four grandchildren James Murphy, Jason/Janae Murphy of Frisco, Texas, BJ/Kate Murphy of North Carolina and Neissa/Sean Gallarhar of Split, Croatia. She is blessed with seven great-grandchildren Kaitlyn/Ashton, Genevieve, Caleb, Conor, Chase, Breanna and Landon, and 2 great-great-grandchildren Everly and Ryder. Visitation is 11:00am to 12:00pm Tuesday, June 30, 2026 with the funeral service will be held at 12:00pm at The Hamill Family Funeral Home 6440 Buffalo Gap Rd. Abilene, Texas
Pallbearers will be: James Murphy, Jason Murphy, BJ Murphy and Ashton Choiniere
Faye will be laid to rest by the 'Love of her life' for all of eternity following the service at a private family only service.
