Nancy Elizabeth Sanford

April 20, 1941 — April 26, 2026

On April 26, 2026, Nancy Elizabeth (Parker) Sanford relocated to her heavenly home while surrounded by friends and family who celebrated a life well lived. She was born April 20, 1941 in Abilene, Texas to Mart Parker and Zettie (Hilley)Parker. Nancy was 85 years old. She was a 1959 graduate of Wylie High School. Nancy married the love of her life, Wayne Sanford on February 22, 1964 at Temple Baptist Church in Abilene.

She attended McMurry University graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1973. Nancy owned one of the first south Abilene boutiques, Suburban Scene, from 1974 to 1977. She went on to work for two architectural firms in Abilene. During this time she became fluent in computer systems and operations. After acquiring a teaching certification, she became a computer science teacher at Wylie ISD in 1985. In 2003, she was awarded the prestigious Teacher of the Year Award. Nancy retired from Wylie in 2006. Nancy and Wayne were inducted into the Wylie Hall of Honor in 2021.

Throughout her lifetime, she was involved in many church, charity, and civic organization events. Her most cherished activities included time was spent with family and friends. She enjoyed attending the activities of her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called her MeMom.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers; Lloyd Parker, Earnest Parker, and Leon Parker and her sister; Nell Parker Bradshaw. Nephews; Ray Parker, Guy McMillan and Danny Parker. Nieces; Rayda Howe and Theresa Parker.

Nancy is survived by her Husband; Wayne; her Daughter, Shanna Alvarez and husband Rey; Son, Bo Sanford and wife, Kristie, Sister; Hazel Vrabel and Stacey Sanford (Parker and Sophie's mother). Grandchildren; Ashleigh Packwood, Brittany Alvarez, Parker Sanford, Sophie Nitsch and husband Kaeden, Taylor and Easton Alexander. Great-Grandchildren; Gunnar Wayne, Gracyn Erica, Gentry Elizabeth, Gatlynn Jae, Geyma Elaine Packwood and Bradley Jetton. Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Lifetime friends; Ellen Owen, Rosemary Hall, Janelle Gooch, Sharla Duseke, Pat Allen, and Mary Pat Mercer.

On Wednesday May 6, 2026 the visitation with the family will be at 1:00 pm and the Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00 pm at the Hamil Family Funeral Home on Buffalo Gap Road. A private burial service for the family will be at Potosi Cemetary.

Honorary pallbearers; Wayne Bradshaw, Larry Parker, Kris Gilmore, Stan Kelley, Rick Perkin, and Garret Sanford.

The family is eternally grateful for the loving care given by Dr. Joshua Gray and his staff, Dr. Karin Mossack and the staff at Hendrick Hospice Care, Kristie Sanford, Edith Revoir, and Rachel DeWiggans. A very special thanks to her Niece, Kim McMillan for her support, kindness, and love during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of choice.
