Nancy Michie

November 23, 1938 — November 14, 2025

Nancy Louise Michie

Nancy L Michie, 86 of Abilene, TX., died on November 14, 2025.

Nancy was born on November 23, 1938 in Rutland, Vermont to

Frank Guiltinan and Charlotte Bliss Guiltinan. Nancy grew up in West

Rutland Vermont, the family moved to Rome NY in 1953 where Nancy

attended Rome Free Academy and graduated in 1956. Nancy then

attended the State University of New York, Fredonia.

While home in the fall of 1958 for a friend’s wedding she met her future

husband, Lt. Edgar Michie. it was not "love at first sight"  She thought he

was just another obnoxious pilot who drove a flashy car. A second

encounter, a few glasses of good scotch, a slow dance and the rest was history.

Nancy and Ed were married on March 26,1959 in Elkton, MD. This was

the beginning of a life of love and adventure that lasted 66 years.

A few weeks after they were married Ed left for Goose Bay, Labrador.

This was not a bring your family along kind of assignment. While visiting

Goose Bay in June, Nancy learned that if she had a job, she could stay.

Ever resourceful, Nancy quickly had a job selling cameras and hunting

equipment.

The first 20 years were spent as an Air Force wife. Nancy held down the fort

And wrangled the kids while Ed was away on many deployments. The

Air Force life brought Nancy and Ed to many places around the US and

Okinawa Japan, finally settling in Abilene, TX.

After Ed retired from the Air Force, Nancy returned to school and in 1982

graduated from McMurry University. This started a career teaching

special education for almost 30 years, Nancy started her teaching career

at Abilene High School, later transferring to Cooper High School.

Nancy was not only a wife, mother and teacher, she was adventurous,

The first on board for anything spur of the moment. Her wit was like no

other, she always had a good comeback for whatever the situation. She

loved to entertain whether for family, friends or co-workers, all were

welcome and had a good time. The holidays were magical, filled with

love and laughter. From the 4th of July barbecue with everyone marching

around the pool with American flag. The outdoor Thanksgiving, Pilgrim

style with family and good friends to the Christmas's where there was

snow or at the beach. She had a way of making all of these gatherings special with everyone

walking away feeling welcome. She was the glue, the planner and kept

the love and laughter in our lives.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Major Edgar W. Michie, Jr, USAF Ret, of Abilene, TX,

sister Margaret Page, Rome, NY, daughter Sandra Turner, Abilene, TX,

son Edgar “Gar” W Michie 3rd, Rome, NY, son Joseph Michie, Abilene,

TX., grandson ‘Dylan Turner and wife Jayden, Ovalo, TX, great

Grandsons Wake Turner and Nash Turner.

Nancy is proceeded in death, by her Father Frank Guiltinan, Mother

Charlotte Bliss Guiltinan and brother Joseph Guiltinan.

“I will never forget the day we met for the first time, and I was completely unaware that you would mean so much to me.” @theunsharedfeelings
