Nancy Hobbs

Nancy Lindley Hobbs, 86, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on May 14, 2025. 

A visitation is scheduled on Wednesday, May 21, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Her funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Hamil Family Funeral Home, burial will follow at Elwood Memorial Park, 5750 US-277, Abilene, Texas 79606.

Nancy was born on May 7, 1939 in Winters, Texas, to Benjamin Franklin Lindley and Vera Pauline (Crenshaw) Lindley. She attended Winters Schools and married John Kuykendall on July 1, 1956, and had three children with him. On January 26, 1968, she married William (Bill) Hoyt Hobbs in Las Vegas, Nevada, and had three more lovely children. Nancy was a devoted housewife while raising her children, and later worked for 15 years at Dillard’s Department Store in the Clinique Cosmetic counter at the Mall of Abilene, where she received the Pace Setter Award for Top Sales nationwide for four different years throughout her tenure.

Nancy was a member of Wylie Baptist Church for over 50 years and volunteered consistently at the local hospital for many years.

During those years, Nancy was active in bowling, tennis, and country western dancing, and she loved spending time with her many friends. Nancy loved doing crafts, playing with her grandkids, and traveling the country. She loved family vacations to Ruidoso, New Mexico and Las Vegas, Nevada. Later she enjoyed traveling with friends to Branson, Missouri, New York City, Niagara Falls, Florida, South Padre Island, and Yellowstone National Park.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill Hobbs, her brother Don Lindley, her sister Bonnie Shores, her son Johnny Hobbs, her daughter Samantha Hobbs, her stepsons Willie Hobbs, Robert Hobbs, Doak Hobbs, and her stepdaughter Carla Hobbs. She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Jana Hobbs Hinckley; her son, Jay Hobbs and wife, Ruth; her daughter, Susan Hobbs Peterson and husband, Joe of Ovalo; and her son, Bill Mack Hobbs, son, Danny Hobbs of Oklahoma City, and son, Kirk Hobbs, and wife Sharon of Lubbock. Fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren also survive her.

Memorials may be made to a non-profit organization of your choice.
