Dr. Millard Julian Kimery, Sr., age 93, passed away at home on May 3, 2025 in Abilene, Texas.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, May 9, 2025, at 1:00 at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, Texas, with Chaplain James Martin officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Millard was born in Neoga, Illinois to Horace and Emma Kimery on March 30, 1932. He graduated from Neoga High School, then served in the Army in Korea from 1952 to 1954. He married Janet Oredson on April 22, 1961, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended dental and graduate school, earning a DDS and MSD, and was in private practice as a periodontist for 31 years, from 1968 to 1999. After closing his private practice, he continued serving veterans at the Big Spring Veterans Hospital until 2016.
Millard was preceded in death by his father, Horace Harrison Kimery; mother, Emma “Amy” Catherine Kimery; sister, Vera Strohm; and brother, Rex Kimery.
Millard is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janet Kimery; three children, Millard Kimery Jr. and wife Cindy, Steven Kimery and wife Michelle, and Susan Cheek and husband Brian; grandchildren Jesse Peirce and husband Michael, Quinn Kimery, Madelyn Paxton and husband Taven, Ally Cheek, and Hunter Cheek.
Pallbearers will be Millard Kimery Jr., Steven Kimery, Brian Cheek, Michael Peirce, and Taven Paxton. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Creel and Doug Allen.
