Milford L. Prichard, Jr., age 76, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at Hendrick Health Systems in Abilene. Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 26th, @ 2 p.m. at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Dr. H. Bailey Stone, Dr. Phil Christopher and Dr. Jeff Ried officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday evening, August 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, TX. Milford Lewis Prichard, Jr. was born on May 23, 1929 in Corsicana, Texas to parents Milford Lewis Prichard, Sr. and Lizzie A. Brooks Prichard. He graduated from White Face High School in 1946 and went on to attend ENMU in Portales, New Mexico; and later graduated from HSU in Abilene in 1957. He married Rosa Lee Hemphill in Littlefield, Texas on June 10, 1958 after she graduated from HSU where they met. They lived in Abilene from 1958 to 1978 when they moved to Odessa; and then returned to Abilene in 1995. Milford worked for the U.S. Postal Service for thirty-nine years. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Abilene, and in his earlier years he was ordained as a Deacon at Southside Baptist Church where he faithfully served and also taught Sunday School. While in Odessa, he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church. He was active through Abilene Baptist Social Ministries; a former member of Greater Abilene Kiwanas Club; served o the HSU Academic Foundation; was involved in the HSU Cowboy Club; and was also an avid supporter of the HSU sports programs. Milford was preceded in death by his parents. Milford is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-seven years, Rosa Lee, of Abilene; a son, Marlon Prichard and wife, Sherry, of Seminole; a daughter, Lou Ann and husband, Paul Draper, of Abilene; three brothers, Bill Prichard and wife, Sue, of Odessa, Jim Prichard and wife, Phyllis, of Odessa, and Ed Prichard, of Florida. Also one sister, Fay and husband, Jerry Rutherford, of Horseshoe Bay, TX. Also two grandchildren: Daniel Paul Draper and Grace Leann Prichard and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to the HSU Athletics Department or Donor's favorite charity.
