Maxwell Alexander “Mac” Davis, 90 years old, passed away on March 1st, 2021 in Abilene, Tx.
Visitation will be held on March 8th from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 6:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am on Tuesday, March 9th at The Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Fred officiating. Burial will follow at The Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Maxwell Alexander “Mac” Davis was born in Greenville, Mississippi on March 30, 1930, Mac was the son of Maxwell Edward Davis and Elizabeth Alexander. He married the former Marlene Del Britton on October 6, 1966 in Sidney, Australia, they were married for 44 years. After leaving Sidney, Mac and his wife lived two years in Lake Charles, Louisiana before moving to Algiers, Algeria from which they moved to Abilene, Tx in 1974.
He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1952. He worked as a Petroleum Geologist for several Oil Companies national and international. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and received two stars one Korean service medal. Mac was involved in several organizations, such as Knights of Columbus and the National Association of Petroleum Geologist. He also created a fund after his wife, Marlene Del Davis at the Catholic Charitable Foundation. He was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Maxwell A. Davis is preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Del Davis; parents, Maxwell and Elizabeth Davis; and brother Joseph R. Davis.
Maxwell A. Davis is survived by his niece Evangelina Davis, her husband Charles Convert, and great-nephews Pierina and Valentino Convert.
The family of Maxwell Davis wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dennis and Janelle O’Connell, Mary-Ann Herbert, to the Holy Family Church community, to the St. Vincent de Paul Society and to the medical staff that helped him during his last days.
