Mary Migliore

Mary Migliore, 88, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022. She was born in Corato, Italy on March 13, 1934, to Cataldo and Luisa Arbore. Mary was one of five children, and they grew up in a small town before moving to the United States in 1955.

Mary met Bruce Migliore and they married September 12, 1959, in Rochester, NY. She was a homemaker during their time in Rochester, raising their four children. In 1983, Bruce’s job brought them to Abilene from Rochester. Mary enjoyed the small town living that Abilene had to offer, as it reminded her of her home in Italy. She worked as a cook at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 30 years. Mary was known for her excellent cooking. She loved life, especially with her family. She enjoyed sewing, playing bingo, and going to casinos with her husband, Bruce.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cataldo and Luisa Arbore, her brothers, Salvatore and Michael Arbore, and Michael’s wife, Dorina, and her sister Nicoletta Bianchi.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of nearly 63 years, Bruce Migliore also known as Mr. Wonderful; sons, Lewis Migliore, Carl Migliore and wife Mary Ellen, Christopher Migliore and wife Amy; daughter, Theresa McFarland and husband William; brother, Vito Arbore and wife Joyce; 10 grandchildren: Ashley and husband Pete, Lindsey, Zachary and wife Ashley, Samantha and husband Zack, Anthony, Vincent, Hailey and husband Billy, Andrea, Spencer, and Dominic, and 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 31 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A Rosary will follow at 7:00 pm with Deacon Casarez from Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be held at 9:30 am on Thursday, September 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 11:00 am at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery.
