Mary Lisa Berglund, Ph.D., of Abilene, formerly of Seattle, San Diego and Pittsburg, died on August 3, 2008.
Memorial services will be at 6:30 pm on Thursday, August 7, 2008 in the chapel at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Born November 20, 1956 in North Bay, Ontario, Lisa was the beloved daughter of Carl and Mary McLean Berglund and former wife of Norman H. Stamper of Seattle. She was a graduate of Sewickley Academy, Southern Methodist University and the California School of Professional Psychology. To her rich and varied work life—journalist for a public TV station in Dallas, counselor for troubled youth in Austin, practicing clinical psychologist, research director for the University of Washington, and most recently tireless consultant to the Texas Workforce Commission and developer and Director of Texas Work Ethic programs (TWEC) in Central Texas—she brought wholehearted passion, untiring commitment, and an dedication to her clients and colleagues.
Preceded in death by her grandparents, Carson and Margaret McLean and Tage and Inez Berglund. Survived by parents Carl and Mary McLean Berglund, brother Carson Berglund and wife Amanda and nieces and nephews, Carling, Alexis, Carson and Campbell Berglund; Mikaela and Elyse Cloyd.
