Mark Alan Shannon, 57, of Tuscola, TX, passed away on August 7, 2025 in Ovalo, TX.

Visitation will begin at 10:00AM Wednesday August 13 at Hamil Family Funeral Home, followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Mark was born in Elkins, West Virgina to Harmon and Esther Shannon on March 8, 1968. He graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in 1986 and began basic training that same year. Mark graduated from the U.S. Air Force security police specialist course at Lackland Air Force Base in September of 1986. Sergeant Mark A. Shannon was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene Texas where he served in the 96th Security Police Squadron, 96th Bombardment Wing (Heavy) from June 16, 1986 - June 15, 1990. Mark was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Air Force Small Arm Expert/Pistol Ribbon. He married Trixie Lee Dunn on June 13, 1992 in Abilene, TX. Following his military career, Mark went on to work for United Oil and Grease Company where he was a Sales Engineer & Certified Lubrication Specialist. He worked at the company for 32 years.

Mark was a man of faith, committed to inspiring his family to embrace and serve the Lord. For many years he served alongside them in church with an unwavering dedication. Known for his boundless generosity, Mark freely shared his time, resources, wisdom and expertise with those around him. He thrived on challenges and eagerly pursued new knowledge and skills throughout his life. After starting his own weight loss journey, Mark channeled his passion for helping others into his role as a nutrition coach, guiding many individuals toward their health and wellness goals. A familiar presence at the gym, Mark was an avid strength trainer, embodying discipline and perseverance. Mark's warm and genuine personality made him a stranger to no one; he had a remarkable gifting for remembering details of friends and family's lives, forging deep meaningful connections that won't soon be forgotten. When he wasn't working on his ranch or practicing his marksmanship at his gun range, you could find him in his shop working on his fleet of military Humvees with his friends. Mark, an avid turkey and deer hunter, cherished the outdoors and took great care to pass down his skills and passion for the outdoors to his children. His sense of humor and quick wit never failed to bring laughter and joy into any room. Admired and cherished by his family and many others, Mark's legacy of kindness, strength, service, perseverance, and faith will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

Mark was preceded in death by his father Harmon "Sonny" Shannon, Jr. and mother Esther Mae Collins Shannon.

Mark is survived by his wife Trixie Shannon, his son Cole Alan Shannon and wife Mallory, daughter Anna Grace Shannon, sister Anita Lambert and husband Ronnie, granddaughter Lily Mae, grandson Reid Brewer Craig, nephew Daniel "DJ" Lambert and wife Becki, nephew Travis Lambert, nieces Kayla Lambert and Abby Lambert.

Pallbearers will be Cole Shannon, Daniel "DJ" Lambert, Edward Leon Dunn Jr., Joseph Chmielewski, Greg Alley, Roland DeLauney, Matt Cumby, and Jason Little.

The Shannon family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the Taylor County Sherrif's Office and the Moro Volunteer Fire Department.
