Marilyn Jean Christner, 88, of Abilene, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022 in Abilene TX.
Visitation will be from 5PM until 7PM on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Rosary Service will follow at 7PM. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church at 10:00 am on Friday, April 22, 2022. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
Marilyn was born to William and Marie Husak on January 24, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated from Parma High School in Parma Ohio and in 1956 from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education. During her time at Kent State, Marilyn was a member of Chi Omega sorority and a swimmer of the synchronized swim club. Marilyn was an active member of Apple Valley Singers in Ohio. She loved family outings and cooking – so much, that she put together a cookbook for her family. Marilyn will be dearly missed by all who love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Husak and Marie (Hanket) Husak and brother William J. Husak.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, George Christner of Abilene; son, Kenneth (Audrey) Christner of Corona, CA and their children, Connor (Kaylee) Christner, Cameron Christner and Colby Christner; daughter, Laura (Dave) Cardwell of Abilene and their children, Katherine (Brian) Bayless of Porter, TX, and Christopher (Jami) Cardwell of Celina, TX; Eleven great-grandchildren, Carlyn, McKenna, Joshua, Zoe, Brixon, Abbie, Adylyn, Easton, Emmett, Sawyer and Flynn; sister-in-law, Judy Christner Moser and many nieces and nephews.
