Margie Sherrod

Margie Sherrod, 85, of Abilene passed away on August 30, 2025, in Abilene. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

Margie was born in Manchester, Kentucky to Charles and Janie (Clarkston) Philpot on November 3, 1939. She graduated from Jamacia High School in Vermillion County, Illinois and Cosmetology School in Danville, Illinois. She married Monte Sherrod on October 27, 2014, in Arizona. She worked as an Ophthalmologist assistant, various food and beverage industry positions, cosmetologist, line worker at US Brass, in retail and at Abilene Aero. She had been involved in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Cooties Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society.

She is preceded in death by her parents Charles and Janie Philpot, her sisters Jeanette (as an infant), Yvonne Day, Jean Winchester, Christine Weissenberg, and brother Clarence Philpot. Two brother in-laws, Luther Winchester and Joseph Weissenberg, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also preceded by her husband Monte Sherrod.

Margie is survived by her daughters Linda Parker and husband Kevin, Janet Fluhr and husband Tim, Annette Wilkins and husband Jay Dee. She is also survived by her sister Mattie Hillary and husband Richard. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kyle Fluhr and wife Mindy, Travis Fluhr, Jarred Wilkins and wife Megan and Nicole Wilkins. Great grandchildren Critian Perz and wife Itzel, Elian, Andrew and Austen Castro. Great-great grandchildren Adonai and Vincent Perz and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lyndale Memory Care and Legacy Lane at Wisteria Place for their care and love for her as well as the Hendricks Hospice nurses and aides.
