MARGARET’S OBITUARY
On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Margaret Morris DeLay left this life at the age of 90 for a life with her Heavenly Father. She will be joyfully greeted by her husband, Flakie DeLay, her parents, Robert and Lea Baxter Morris, her sister, Bettye Morris Todd, and so many other family members and friends.
Margaret gave her life to her Lord and Savior when she was 12 years old. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church and the Love Sunday School Class where she had many wonderful friends. She was employed at Hendrick Medical Center for many years, first as a volunteer then as a secretary to the Director of Critical Care, Linda Pinkston.
Margaret was such a special person and she never met a stranger. She loved to help others, volunteering on the bereavement committee at church and visiting nursing homes with a dear friend to provide joy and entertainment to the residents. She was much loved by so many.
Margaret is survived by her two beautiful, loving daughters, Virginia DeLay Beaudoin, (husband Charles Beaudoin) and Elizabeth DeLay Raymond, (husband Casey Raymond). She is also survived by her “baby” sister, Myrtice Lea Morris Johnson, (husband Lee D. Johnson). Myrtice, known as Myrt, was a much-loved sister. She and Margaret shared so many laughs, tears, and stories you wouldn’t believe (ask Myrt about “the box”).
The delight of her life was her three wonderful grandchildren: Austin, Lauren, and Landon Beaudoin. They will never know how much they were loved by their grandmother “Bill.”
Also surviving Margaret are her four special nephews: Ross, Morris (wife Jagruti), Scott, and Blake Todd. They were like a second family to Margaret. Morris Baxter (wife Kathy) and Norman Baxter (wife Carol), are cousins who also survive Margaret.
Margaret’s family would like to express gratitude to the staff at The Isle at Raider Ranch for the wonderful care they provided Margaret. She spent the end of her life with them and there were so many staff members that cared for her and raised her spirits. We are so thankful to you.
A small family memorial service will be held at Hamil Family Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse at the website https://www.samaritanspurse.org/memorial-page/margaret-delay-lubbock-tx/ or by calling Samaritan’s Purse Donor Ministries at 800-528-1980.
And just at the moment when someone at my side says, “There, she is gone!”
There are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout; “Here she comes!”
