Lynda Meuth

With hope in the resurrection and gratitude for a life well lived, we remember Lynda Rae Meuth.

Lynda Rae Meuth, 76, of Abilene, Texas, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on February 18, 2026. Surrounded by the love of her family and the promises of Christ, we take comfort in knowing that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

Lynda was born on January 2, 1950, and lived with a joyful spirit and a deep capacity to love that marked every season of her life. She lived with quiet strength, enduring faith, and a servant’s heart, reflecting God’s love to all who knew her.

She devoted much of her professional life to secondary education, teaching in Pecos, Hutto, and Round Rock, Texas, before later serving in school administration. Through her work, she invested in the lives of countless students, teachers, and families. Lynda approached her calling with dedication, wisdom, and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on every community she served.

Lynda was a faithful member of Wylie Methodist Church in Abilene, where her steady faith and gentle spirit were evident to all. She trusted the Lord through every season and found deep joy in worship, prayer, and fellowship.

She shared a loving marriage with her husband, Robert “Bob” D. Meuth, and together they built a life centered on faith and family, living in Pecos, Round Rock, Midland, and Abilene. Her greatest joy was loving her family well. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose presence brought warmth and encouragement to those around her.

Lynda had a remarkable passion for running and perseverance. She was a seventeen-time marathon finisher, including completing the Boston Marathon, and participated in countless half marathons. Her determination and discipline reflected the strength of her character, and she often inspired others through her example of endurance and commitment. As Scripture reminds us, “let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1), a verse that so beautifully reflects the way she lived her life.

In later years, Lynda faced Parkinson’s disease with the same courage, resilience, and quiet determination that defined her life. Though the disease gradually limited her body, it never diminished her spirit, her faith, or her love for those around her. She endured this season with grace and perseverance, continuing to trust the Lord each step of the way. Now she has started her final marathon with Jesus.

Above all, Lynda loved her Lord and loved her family deeply. She is survived by her husband, Bob; her daughter, Meredith McNeese, and Meredith’s husband, Jeremy McNeese; her son, Marc Meuth, and his wife, Claudia; her beloved grandchildren, Jeremiah McNeese and Liesl McNeese; her sister, Mary Ann Gurno; and her brothers, James Gurno and Harry Gurno. She was a cherished presence in their lives and will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held at Wylie Methodist Church in Abilene on February 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to worship, remember, and give thanks for her life.

Interment will take place at Gary Cemetery in Gary, Texas, on Monday, February 23, 2026.
