Lola Faye Hill Austin

Lola Faye Hill Austin, 96, of Abilene passed away on December 23, 2025, in Abilene, Texas.

Visitation will be 5:00 pm. to 7:00 pm. Friday, January 2, 2026, at Hamil Family Funeral Home.

A Celebration of her Life will be held 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Wylie Baptist Church with the Pastor Mike Harkrider of Wylie Baptist Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Lola was born in Jones County in the home of her parents, Ruben and Kate (Boyd) Hill on May 8, 1929. She graduated from Wylie High School where she was valedictorian of her senior class. She married Wayne Austin on November 1, 1947, in Abilene, Texas. She was a mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved being with family and cooking for all her extended family. She was a long-time member of Wylie Baptist church where she was a Sunday School teacher, a GA leader, a part of the WMU and served on several committees over the years. She loved gardening, flowers and antiquing.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, her sister and two brothers and their spouses, and her in-laws.

Lola is survived by her son Dennis Austin (Pam), her daughter Becky Anders (Ralph), her grandchildren, Molly Collier (Dan), Amy Shumake (Brandon), Douglas Anders, Elizabeth Roberson (Brett), Bobby Austin (Mary), Benton Austin (Laura) along with 19 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren. Other survivors include her brother-in-law, Roy Austin of Colorado and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Austin, Benton Austin, Brett Roberson, Dan Collier, Brandon Shumake, Douglas Anders, Madison Moore.

Memorials may be given to Wylie Baptist Church.
