Lloyd Warren Skiles, 81, a longtime resident of Abilene, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in Plano, Texas.
Born in Cisco, Texas on January 14, 1930, Lloyd was the son of Hazel B. (Warren) and James Otis Skiles. He attended schools in Cisco and Big Spring, Texas. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army.
A veteran of the Abilene Police Department, Mr. Skiles was both a police officer and criminal investigator during his career, retiring in 1991. He also had been a Taylor County Baliff for 7 1/2 years.
Lloyd married Tommye Jesalyn Brasher on July 29, 1958 in Abilene. He was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Goff.
Survivors include his wife, Tommye Skiles of Plano; two sons, Roger Skiles, M.D. and wife Laura of Frisco and Stanley Skiles of Midlothian, Texas; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 3, in The Hamil Family Funeral Home chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
