Larry Wayne Hogan, Sr., 71, of Abilene, passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021, in Abilene.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Hope 4 Life Church with Pastor Bruce Tentzer officiating. Inurnment with full military honors will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene, with Pastor J.D. Henson officiating. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.

Larry was born on July 28, 1950, in Seattle Washington to Barbara Lee (Snyder) and Mitchell Clarence Hogan. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School in Seattle. He married Kathleen Elizabeth Smith in Seattle on November 27, 1969. Larry retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1993 after a 20-year career, going on to work for Boeing for 15 years and Texas Aerospace. He was a member of Hope 4 Life Church.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, Mitchell C. Hogan, his stepmother, Betty Jean Hogan and one brother, Michael Hogan.

Larry is survived by his wife Kathleen of Abilene; sons, David Smith and wife Britney of Corinth, MS, and Larry Hogan Jr. and wife Amy of Vail, AZ; daughter, Jennifer Carter and husband Phillip of Abilene; adopted daughter, Amber Elrod and husband Charles and their two children of Denton; nine grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; mother, Barbara Lee Smith of Salem, OR; brother, Robert Smith and wife Ona; two sisters, Rosemary Knudsen of Seattle, WA., and Cheryl Spicer and husband Ron of Salem, OR.

Memorials may be made in Larry’s honor to Hope 4 Life Church, 3502 Rebecca Lane, Abilene, Texas 79606.
