Joyce Joan Jones

Joyce Tyler Jones, 89, of Abilene, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 2t 2026, in Crawford, Texas.

A private burial will be held at Texas State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.

Joyce was bom in Cross Plains, Texas, to Oscar and Faye Tyler. She graduated from Cross Plains High School and went on to marry the love of her life, Harold O. Jones, on May 12,1956, in Cross Plains.

Throughout her life, Joyce held various positions, including roles with Cooper High School, Hardin-Simmons University, and McMurry University. However, her greatest joy and proudest role was being a mother to her three boys. She spent countless hours at ballparks and stadiums, cheering them on, and later cherished watching her grandchildren continue that same tradition.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold O. Jones; her parents, Oscar and Faye Tyler; and her brother, Jerry Tyler.

Joyce is survived by her sons and their families: Randy Jones of Abilene; Rodney and Kathy Jones of Frisco; Nathan and Allison Jones of Crawford; and a large, loving legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including Josh and Michelle Jones and their children Olivia, Lorelei, Rae, and Stella; Wes and Brandi Jones and their children Laryn, Harper, Patton, Ridley, and Ripley, Lance and Meagan Jones and their children Pailynn and Ellie Jo; Mackenzie and Mason Reeves and Cahlynn Jones; Callye and Ben Berry and their children Blaze, Wade, and Weslie; and Lindy and Justin Radcliff and their children Reese, Crew, and Laker; and Brody Jones.

She is also survived by her sisters, Lynda Edington, Debbie Reed and many nieces and nephews.

Joyce's legacy lives on through the generations she loved.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Abilene or Bluebonnet Health Services/Hospice of Crawford, Texas.
