John Roger Mendes

John R. Mendes, 71, of Abilene, passed away Friday, October 7, 2022. He was born in Eureka, CA to John and Ethel Mendes on July 21, 1951.

He married his wife, Elvira, on December 16, 1989 in Reno, NV. John retired from the United States Army. He enjoyed camping and fishing, especially during his time living in Wasilla, Alaska. John and Elvira moved to Abilene in 2016.

John is survived by his wife of nearly 33 years, Elvira Mendes.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
