Jerry Laneer Williams, 91, of Abilene died on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 in Abilene.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10 from 5-7 p.m. at Hamil Family Funeral Home with a funeral service at 1:00 on Friday, July 11 at First Baptist Church, Abilene. Burial will follow the service at the Neinda cemetery.
Jerry Williams was born in Hamlin, Texas to Ray and Tressie Williams on April 19, 1934. He married Peggy Joyce Shedd on November 15, 1957 in Ropesville, Texas and shared 67 years together living in numerous places in Texas before they retired and moved to Abilene.
Jerry graduated from Hamlin High School in 1952 and served 6 months in the Army National Guard. He graduated from Texas Tech University and received a master's degree in business from Wayland Baptist University. Jerry was a CPA and worked the majority of his career in the cotton seed oil industry in Hamlin, Sweetwater, Plainview, and Lubbock. After retiring from the cotton seed oil business, he spent several years working as a CPA with Rodgers and Company in Hamlin. He was always active in the local Baptist church in whatever town they lived in, serving as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Tressie Williams; his brother, Larry Williams; brother-in-law, Harold Littlefield; daughter-in-law, Debra Williams; and great-great-grandson Christopher Chestnut. He is survived by his children Mike Williams and wife, Gina of Monahans; Monte Williams and wife, Brenda of Sweetwater; and Patti Greenfield and husband, Mike of Abilene. Grandchildren Deza Johnson of Monahans: Dedra Wessels of Monahans; Justin Williams of Roscoe; Katie Palmer and husband, Luke of Abilene; Blake Greenfield and wife, Sarah of Woodbridge, Virigina; Brett Greenfield of Brooklyn, New York; Brandt Stevens of Mansfield; Brandon Stevens of College Station; and great-grandchildren: Samantha and husband, Josh Romero; Erykah and husband, Luis Jauregui; Jaidyn and Bryson Jaquez; Nathan Wessels; Steelee Williams, Liam, Kohen, Jude, and Jones Palmer, Henry Greenfield; great-great-grandchildren Mia and Mya Jauregui; and his sister, Wanda Littlefield of Anson; sister-in-law, Lana Williams; and brother-in-law, Coda Stephens as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Neinda Cemetery, First Baptist Church, Abilene, Ben Richey Boys Ranch or the charity of your choice.
