Jerry McDonald

Jerry McDonald,83, of Abilene, Texas /Buffalo Gap passed away early Sunday morning, August 31, 2025.

 Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene.

 Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025, in Eula Cemetery.

  Jerry was the son of Charlie and Loella McDonald. He married Lynda Joyce Dye in 1962, and they were married for 63 years and built a wonderful life together. He loved Buffalo Gap, and all his formative years were fun adventures and full of life's lessons and knowledge while attending school there and Wylie. He had many talents and was always ready to help others. He built custom furniture and contract home construction.

 Most of all he loved our land and the ranching and farming we built together. We had lots of great years showing and traveling with the miniature horses.

He was known for his great vegetable gardens and the fantastic vegetables he grew. He always shared with friends and neighbors and Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed taking big veggies to the elephants at the zoo.

 He is survived by his wife Lynda and a sister, Sandra Hollowell.  He was preceded in death by one of his favorite nephews, Brad McDonald, and thought of him until the end.
