Jean Lucile King

1927 — July 21, 2021

Jean Lucile Mosshart King 93 of Abilene, Texas went to meet her Lord and Savior on July 21st 2021. She was met with open arms by her husband of 67 years Walter O. King, Jr, her parents Fred & Gladys Mosshart along with brother’s Fred & Bobby Mosshart, sister Evelyn Mosshart Wasson and brother-in-law Billy T. Wasson, along with a special great Aunt, Glayden Von Allmen.

Jean was born October 28th 1927 in Knox City, TX.  She graduated from Abilene High School and attended Bethany Nazarene College in her early years Jean worked for Hendrick Hospital as well as Dr. Virginia Boyd Conley, Abilene’s first female physician. She married in 1947 the love of her life and within that union was blessed with their children, Neal, Philip, Carol Ann & Billy Jack.  In early 1959 she and Walt started their family business King Tile Company where Jean continued to work with her husband and sons until her retirement in early 1990, this 60-year-old business is still in existence today.

In 2007 Jean was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and fought the battle alongside her family until entering into Kent County Nursing Home in 2014, the love and care she has received over the past 7 and half years has been such a beautiful blessing in our family, we will be forever grateful for the wonderful nurses and care givers that we entrusted with our dear Mother, they are special angels & true hero’s.

Jean loved the Lord with all her heart, she was a faithful lifetime member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Jean was always there to serve a helping hand, working countless hours to care for those in need. Jean was true, genuine and displaying beauty and grace in all she did.  Family was most important to Jean, she was blessed by 9 wonderful Grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Family gatherings at the farm were the highlight of her life, where all welcome to enjoy great food, much laughter & love. Holidays where always made special and the many memories will forever be cherished by all of her family.

Jean is survived by her children, son, Neal (Karalyn) King, son, Philip (Tammi) King, son, Billy Jack (LeAnn) King, daughter, Carol Ann (John) Chappell.  Grandchildren, Jason King (fiancé Misty Guy), and children, Hunter, Chase, Ryder and Whitney; Justin (Emilee) King, children, Justin, Jenni, Weston, Evelyn, Laken and Anson; Julia (Robert) Hehn and children Ella and Landon; Jordan King; Coby (Jenny) Hutcheson and son Cason; Cole (Jordan) and daughter Landry; Cutter Hutcheson; LaPonna (Ben) Moore and children, Asher, Kingsley and Xander; Moriah (Ryan) Kerr and children-Luke and Ellie.

Jean is also survived by sister in Laws, Dolores Mosshart, Barbara Dynneson, Jo King and Cheri King, along with 8 nieces and 8 nephews.   

She will be at The Hamil Family Funeral Home at 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd, with a Memorial service to be held on Tuesday, July 27th at 2pm at the Abilene First Church of the Nazarene, 2849 Beltway South, with Harlan Humiston officiating.  Burial to follow at Elmwood Memorial Park.   Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.  Memorials may be a made to Abilene First Church of the Nazarene/ fcnabilene.org or The Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org.
