Janice Marilyn McCarty was born June 5, 1951, in Enid, Oklahoma to James H. and Katherine E. Hegg. She transitioned to her Heavenly home on April 28th, 2024, at her home in Hawley, Texas. Janice was a remarkable individual. Her life was defined by a commitment to her family, community and faith.
As a daughter of an Air Force pilot, she moved to many different places, including Roswell, NM, Enid, OK, Montgomery, AL, Florida, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and finally to Abilene, TX in 1965. Janice attended Abilene High School and graduated in 1969. She met Larry McCarty in Abilene in 1977 and they soon became husband and wife. They moved to Hawley where she began a long career at Hawley High School as administrative assistant, cheerleader coach, school board assistant and volunteering countless hours to the sports programs. She could often be found at the baseball field in the press box keeping the books or in the gym during basketball season helping with tournaments and watching games. Outside of work her favorite things in life were visiting her grandchildren, gardening, her dogs and decorating for holidays. Jan was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife, and a Christian. She always put family before herself. She was an attentive and caring friend to many.
Janice will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Katherine Hegg and her brothers Ronnie and Rob Hegg.
Surviving Janice are her beloved husband, Larry; children Ryon Parham and his wife Jennifer; Chase McCarty and his wife Nicole; grandchildren Will Parham, Lauren Parham, Mason McCarty, Garrett McCarty, Reese Coburn, and Reagan Coburn.
Service for Janice will be held at The Hamil Family Funeral Home located at 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene Texas 79606 on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The family will have a private grave side service following.
