James Willson

James Wesley Willson, 88, of San Angelo, TX passed away on March 18, 2026 in Tyler, TX.

Visitation will be 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, TX.  Burial will follow in Drummond Cemetery with David Stevens officiating under the direction of Hamil Family Funeral Home.

James was born in Mullen, TX to Rosa and Warren Willson on March 21, 1937.  He married Barbara Whisenhunt on March 7, 1962.  James worked as a meat cutter for many years.  He also owned and operated a boot and shoe repair business in San Angelo, TX.  He was a veteran and served in the Marines and the Navy.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Rosa and Warren Willson; his wife, Barbara Willson; mother and father-in-law, Dewey and Glen Whisenhunt; a grandson, Nikolas Willson; and other family members.

Survivors include his son, Wesley Willson and wife, Diane; daughter, Myjinda Cooper and husband, Keith; brother Wiley Willson and wife, Becky; a sister, Linda Nolan; five grandchildren, Lance Willson, Clay Willson, Joshua Willson, Jessica Jones, and Stephen Gilpin; and many great-grandchildren.
